Considering the currently remarkable value of heritage as an integral part of the identity and memory of any country, the program in question should contribute to the training of future museum curators with multilingual skills, ambassadors and cultural consultants, administrative and management staff of NGOs, employees of communication services within ministries and delegations of culture and heritage. Therefore, the master's program should improve students' academic linguistic and cultural skills and knowledge to meet declared employment potentials.

The modules designed in the program are meant to deepen students' knowledge of the cultural components of Moroccan identities and memories from an academic and scientific perspective. This master's program, “Transcultural and Memory Studies,” is an unprecedented program for Moroccan universities.

Specific Objectives

• Developing students’ knowledge in the disciplines of cultural studies and memory studies.
• Equipping students with theoretical and conceptual frameworks in cultural and memory studies.
• Familiarizing students with different cultural concepts: race, ethnicity, class, identity, etc.
• Enabling students to link theory, analysis, and practice in research.
• Meeting some of the strategic goals of the kingdom/ministry/university with regard to the job market.
• Qualifying students for research into Morocco’s (and beyond) cultural tangible and intangible heritage.
• Providing students with skills and competencies to deal with (cross)cultural problems in research.
• Enabling students of critical, analytical, and constructive modes of thinking when dealing with multicultural contexts.
• Encouraging students to discuss/tackle/debate comparative/competitive identities and memories.
• Assisting students into communication modes with different stakeholders involved in cultural sustenance of patrimony and memory.
• Re-thinking the links between different identities and memories (Blacks, Jews, Muslims, Amazigh, etc.) across Morocco’s multicultural spectrum.
• Incorporating Morocco's cultural heritage/memory in world literature.
